An hour and a half outside the bustle of New York City lies Beacon, an up and coming quaint town perfect for a day's getaway.

Main Street is the place to go to spend your day trip. It is lined with trendy cafes and countless antique shops. Upon arrival, I assumed my boyfriend and I would spend an hour or two covering Main Street. We ended up walking up and down the road, and in and out of every thrift store for five hours. We left no café untouched.
If you are traveling directly from NYC, the train is the easiest way to visit (and it runs quite frequently). The Metro North from Grand Central is a scenic ride along the Hudson River and should get you there from an hour and a half to an hour and 45 minutes! After arriving at the Beacon Station, the walk to the beginning of Main Street is only 10 minutes (two minutes if driving). I drove from a nearby town in Westchester, since we were visiting family there the day before, and we parked in one of the many public parking lots along Main Street.
We began our day at around 10:30 AM at Kitchen and Coffee after watching many hip passersby head there. We figured it must be a great spot, so we followed suit. Because I try to avoid gluten and dairy this place was heaven for me. Even my anti-diet boyfriend was a huge fan. It was difficult to decide among the countless bowls, pastries and lattes they had to offer. We decided on a matcha latte with oat milk and banana pecan cacao granola with almond milk (for me) and an iced latte with oat milk (for Brett). We both rated it quite high on our mental latte and matcha scales and Brett, who grew up on Coco Puffs, ended up stealing and finishing my delicious granola.
We finished up our lattes as we walked along Main Street, browsing every antique shop and local market in sight. Some of my favorites included Stella's Fine Market, Hyperbole, Beacon Bath & Bubble and Flora Good Times. I picked up a thrifted trench coat find from Hyberbole and two adorable tea cups for my mom at Solstad House. I was tempted to make my own bouquet of flowers at Flora Good Times and try every trendy snack at Stella's Fine Market.

3/4 of our way through the Main Street strip, we stopped for a quick lunchtime break. We had a difficult time choosing between all of the good spots but ultimately went with Meyer's Olde Dutch Food & Such. We had the veggie beet burger and chicken fingers on the patio out back as the sun came out and were very pleased with our decision. It was quick and filling but left us able to continue walking and sampling as we went.
There was an abundance of galleries and funky thrift spots as well as some fabulous sweet shops. The list below covers all Beacon has to offer! Overall, we were pleased with our visit and plan to go back to taste everything we hadn't gotten to this time around on Main Street.
